Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal data OriginWay stores, what it is used for, who else touches it, how long it lives and how to ask for access or deletion. It is written to be understood in one read: if anything here is unclear, write to hola@originway.app and we will explain it.
Date, time and place of birth are personal data. Those three fields are enough to identify a person, so this site treats them as what they are and not as one more form field. Everything below follows from that.
Last updated: 29 July 2026. This policy is written to meet the GDPR, the General Data Protection Regulation, which applies to visitors in the European Economic Area and, in its retained form, in the United Kingdom.
The anonymous birth chart is calculated on your device
The free birth chart is calculated in your browser. Your date, time and place of birth do not travel to any server for that, are not stored and nobody sees them: the calculation happens on your device and the result is drawn right there. Close the tab without creating an account and nothing is left.
There is one exception, and you are the one who decides it. When you ask for the reading of your chart, and only then, those three details go to our server: it works out the positions of your chart there, and it is those positions, say "Moon in Scorpio, house 4", that we send to OpenAI so it can write the text. Your date, time and place of birth are not stored, and none of the three ever reaches OpenAI. What does stay stored is the texts per combination, which are reused for anyone who has that same combination and identify nobody. If you never ask for the reading, the birth chart page calls no server function at all.
What data we store
If you create an account, we store:
- Your email address. It is your identity on the site and where our emails go.
- Your password, stored as a hash. Never in readable form. We do not know it and cannot read it.
- Your astral profile: date, time and place of birth, plus the coordinates and time zone of that place. It is what saves you from entering everything again and what makes your transits possible.
- Your calculated chart and the interpretations attached to it.
- The people you add, with whatever birth data you enter for them.
- Your preferences: language, which emails you want and at what time.
- Your subscription status: whether it is active, when it started and when it was charged.
In addition, with or without an account:
- Your IP address, for a short period, inside the counters that limit how many requests each visitor makes. It is what stops someone from abusing the site or trying passwords by the thousand.
- Your decision about measurement, in a first party cookie. It holds whether you accepted or refused, nothing else.
- That you have a session open in this browser, in two first party cookies: the one that keeps you signed in and a marker that only says yes, so the menu can take you to your account without asking the server on every page. Both are cleared when you sign out.
What we use it for, and on what legal basis
Showing your chart, your transits and your people
Performance of the contract you entered into
Sending the daily email and strong transit alerts
Your consent, which you can withdraw
Charging the subscription and issuing the receipt
Contract, and a legal obligation for the receipt
Limiting abuse and protecting accounts
Our legitimate interest in keeping the service up
Measuring how the site is used
Your prior consent, and only if you gave it
We do not sell your data, we do not share it for advertising and we do not build profiles for third parties. Your chart goes nowhere beyond what the table below says.
Astrology is not a belief test. We do not ask for, infer or record religious or philosophical convictions, and using this site is not treated as a statement of any.
Who processes it besides us
To work, the site relies on providers who process data on our behalf and under our instructions. These are all of them, with what each of them sees. Each one starts processing data on the day the part of the site that uses it goes live, not before: while accounts, emails and payment are not open, none of them receives anything.
- NeonStoring the data
The whole database: account, astral profile, people you added
- VercelServing the site and running the code
Your IP address and the requests your browser makes
- OpenAIWriting the interpretation
The positions of a chart, without your name or your email
- PostHogMeasuring the site
Usage events, language and device, and your IP to derive the country
- ResendSending the emails
Your email address and the contents of the message
- Mercado PagoCharging in Argentina
The payment details you type on their site, never on ours
- WhatsAppArranging payment elsewhere, for now
The message you send to our contact number
- Meta Platforms, Inc.Measure advertising campaigns
Aggregated usage events, no personal data.
- TikTok Inc.Measure advertising campaigns
Aggregated usage events, no personal data.
Three clarifications that matter:
- OpenAI receives planetary positions, never your identity. It gets a chart with no owner. Data sent through its programming interface is not used to train its models.
- Your card details never pass through this site. You type them into Mercado Pago, and all we get back is whether the payment went through and when.
- PostHog runs in its European region and only starts if you accepted measurement.
Meta and TikTok receive aggregated usage events only if you accept analytics cookies. We do not send them language, device, birth date, birth time, birth place, or email. Their server may see your connection's IP address because that is unavoidable in a network request.
We are based in Argentina, a country the European Commission recognises as providing adequate protection, and these providers hold data outside the European Economic Area, so your data is transferred internationally. Every transfer is covered by an adequacy decision or by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses before the provider processes anything, and no provider may use the data for its own purposes.
How long we keep it
The periods below are maximums: if something stops being needed sooner, it goes sooner.
Account, astral profile, chart and interpretations
As long as your account exists
Database backups
30 days, then overwritten
Payment receipts and accounting records
10 years, because accounting law requires it
Measurement events
12 months
Cookie holding your measurement decision
12 months, then we ask again
Cookies for the open session
7 days, or until you sign out
IP address in the security counters
However long the counter window lasts, one minute to one hour
Cookies and measurement
The site runs with no third party cookies. Before loading any measurement tool we ask, and nothing loads until you answer: if you refuse, PostHog never starts and not a single event leaves.
When you accept, what gets measured are steps, not contents. Events carry no date, time or place of birth: there is a guard in the code that masks the fields that name birth data before anything leaves the browser, and the part of the address where the free chart carries your details is cut off at the source and never stored. Session recording is off, and no page that asks for or displays birth data can ever be recorded.
Accepting measurement also leaves the tool's own storage in your browser, which is what lets it tell that two pages are the same visit. If you refuse, nothing is written.
You can change your mind at any time from the footer of any page. The full detail is in the cookie notice.
Other people's data that you enter
When you add someone to compare charts, you are entering another person's birth data. By doing so you confirm that they agreed to it. We never contact them and never show them anything, and that data is used only to calculate the comparison you see.
If you are that person and want your data removed from someone else's account, write to hola@originway.app and we will remove it.
Children
This site is for people aged 16 and over. We do not ask for and do not want data from anyone younger, and if we learn that an account belongs to a younger person we delete it.
Your rights and how to use them
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you and get a copy of it.
- Rectify it when it is wrong or out of date.
- Erase it, which is the right to be forgotten.
- Restrict or object to processing based on our legitimate interest.
- Port your data to another provider in a machine readable format.
- Withdraw your consent to measurement and to emails at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of what was done before, and without any cost or loss of service.
The concrete way to do it: write to hola@originway.app from the email address on your account and say what you want. There is no form and no procedure. Once the account screen exists you will also be able to see, download and delete everything from there, with one button, without writing to anybody.
We answer within one month, which is the deadline the regulation sets, and we tell you if a complex request needs longer.
If you think we handled it badly, you can lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority of the country where you live or where the problem happened.
What happens when you delete your account
This is the commitment, word for word:
- Your chart and your entire astral profile go, with the date, the time and the place.
- The people you added go, with their birth data.
- The interpretations stored for your chart and your transits go.
- Your history goes: the transits you saw, your daily readings and the record of emails sent.
- Your email address and your password go.
Nothing tied to your email address is left. Deletion is immediate: there is no cooling off period during which the account quietly stays alive. Database backups are overwritten within 30 days.
Only two things survive, and neither identifies you:
- Receipts for the payments you made, because accounting law requires keeping them. They show the transaction, not your chart.
- Interpretation texts that are reused across users. A sentence about Mars in Aries in the third house is the same for everyone and is stored once, with no owner: it is not tied to your account or your email, and nothing of your chart remains in it.
Who is responsible
The data controller is whoever operates OriginWay, and the contact channel for anything about personal data is hola@originway.app.
The controller's registration details are published on this page before the public launch. We do not have an establishment in the European Union, and if a representative becomes necessary, it will be named here.
Changes to this policy
If something changes, the date at the top is updated and the new text is published here. When a change actually affects you, for example a new provider or a new purpose for your data, we tell you by email before it takes effect. We will never quietly stretch the use of data you already gave us.
